This page explains how users of Grato can request deletion of their Grato account and the personal data associated with it. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
How to request deletion
- Open the Grato contact form using the button below.
- Enter the email address associated with your Grato account and write “Delete my Grato account” in the message. Include enough information for us to identify your account, but do not send your password.
- Grato may contact you to verify that you own the account. After verification, we will process the request and confirm when deletion is complete, generally within 30 days unless more time is permitted or required by law.
What Grato deletes
After a verified deletion request, Grato deletes or irreversibly anonymizes personal data tied to your account, including:
- Your Grato account and profile information, such as your name, email address, profile image, and account identifiers.
- Recognition, reward, and other in-app activity associated with your account, including content you created or received where it can be tied to you.
- App preferences, notification or device tokens, connected-account tokens, and uploaded content associated with your account.
- Support and service records that Grato is not required to retain.
Personal data in encrypted backups is deleted or overwritten through Grato’s normal backup cycle, no later than 90 days after the request is completed. During that period, backup data is isolated from normal use and is restored only when needed for disaster recovery or security.
Data Grato may retain
Grato retains only data that is necessary for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. Depending on the record and applicable law, this may include:
- Tax, accounting, invoice, and transaction records for up to 7 years.
- Records needed to prevent fraud, protect the service, or resolve disputes and legal claims for up to 3 years.
- A minimal record of the deletion request, identity verification, and completion for up to 3 years.
If a law, court order, or active legal claim requires a longer period, Grato retains only the information required for that period. Retained data is restricted from ordinary use and deleted when the retention obligation ends. Aggregated or irreversibly anonymized information that can no longer identify you may be kept.
Google Play subscriptions
Deleting your Grato account does not necessarily cancel a subscription purchased through Google Play. Canceling that subscription may be a separate step. To avoid future charges, open Google Play, go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, select Grato, and cancel the subscription. Uninstalling the app also does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
